automation of the Cegid Y2 ERP: artificial intelligence at work

Michael Robin, QA Manager, Itecor Paris · September 08, 2025

preamble

After decades of research and development, artificial intelligence has become central to the digital transformation of all industries. From the first experiments with neural networks in the 1950s to the breakthroughs in deep learning in the 2010s, AI has emerged as a crucial lever for solving complex problems where traditional automation had reached its limits.

Within this context, Itecor Paris successfully leveraged the latest innovations from Tricentis for an international luxury client. Using the Tosca Vision AI solution, the project automated critical processes in the Cegid Y2 ERP, pushing the boundaries of automation.

project context

In February 2023, Itecor was asked to assess the performance of Cegid Y2, with the mission of reducing response times and improving system stability.

By April 2023, the first performance tests were carried out. The results were very promising: in just two months, processing times were significantly reduced and system resilience was clearly improved. Building on this success, Itecor’s scope of work quickly expanded with the creation of a dedicated performance testing team, followed by the launch of a major automation project for Cegid Y2.

This transition to automation, an essential step to improve both efficiency and reliability, began with a proof of concept (POC) designed to demonstrate the feasibility of automating Cegid Y2, where traditional technologies had failed. The success of this POC, made possible through Tosca’s Vision AI module, opened new opportunities for the client.

automation: concrete and measurable results

By February 2024, the project had scaled up with the goal of automating the entire regression test suite of the Cegid Y2 ERP system. Thanks to Vision AI, Itecor was able to overcome the complexity of interfaces and automate components that were previously inaccessible with traditional automation techniques.

Four months later, the results were conclusive: 189 automation scripts had been developed, while supporting the rollout of three different ERP versions.

The automated processes covered reporting, cash register operations, interfaces, user management, and email verification. Automation also integrated modules for APIs, interaction with PDF and Excel files, as well as standard web modules. When these modules could not identify certain components, Vision AI stepped in.

These scripts enabled the identification of 25 anomalies, strengthening system robustness and quality, while significantly reducing manual testing time and increasing accuracy and reliability.

After several iterations, the automated test success rate reached 93%, highlighting the effectiveness of the solutions implemented by Itecor.
